Home for Sale: Arlington, TN

We have made the plunge. We are leaving Memphis to return to BYU for graduate school. Never have Suzanne nor I had such a difficult decision to make. That includes marriage, having a child, accepting a job, filling up a Net Flix cue, renting an apartment, and buying a home.

For the last two months we have been torn between Michigan and BYU. Finally, we decided BYU is the best long-term and short-term solution for our family. Now my mom can stop fasting twice a week.

Although we are very excited to be moving home, there is a little bit of anxiety regarding all the details, which include: selling the house, packing up the house, driving our stuff across the country Clampett style, unloading our belongings...somewhere, and starting school at BYU on September 2nd.

Anyway, just a few things to do. On the job front, I have taken an 'Educational Leave' with Ford, which keeps the door open for me to potentially come back in two years if I choose. I feel like I kind of just jumped off a cliff with a small parachute but we are excited to be doing this and we feel good about it. Except for Cayden...he has no clue what is going on.

May I just say how pleased and excited we are to welcome you all back to Utah! I know what a difficult decision you have had to make. But then you have no idea how hard it is to fast twice a week :) !!!

Rand Blair, you are the man. Now both me and your Mom can stop fasting twice a week. I talked to your cousin (Janay) a few weeks ago and I asked how your were doing, she told me to check out your website and blog. When you get back to the promised land look me up.

My brother-in-law is starting in the MBA program at the Y this fall as well. I'm sure your paths will cross.

Yea, Rand. I think I saw your mom doing cartwheels down Main Street. She was weaving around all the construction cones and singing the Hallelujah Chorus. I'm sort of inclined, a little, to think she was excited.
I think your dad is very pleased, also. I imagine he has already thought of several "character building adventures".
I hope so because I enjoy you relating them.

that'll be awesome to have you guys close, then maybe you could teach your dad the proper technique of the hula, alcohol may be needed. :)

So glad you are coming home, your mom & dad are so excited for you to come. I am excited to see your little guy in action, I have only heard of all his adventures.

Wow I bet that was a difficult decision. Good luck with the packing and moving sounds like an awful lot to do. :) It will be nice to be closer to home, it is a lot easier to mooch dinner off them when they are that close ;).
I have a good friend who is also starting the MBA program at the Y this fall.
GOOD LUCK and Best Wishes

Okay, Rand. I woke up in the middle of the night to James Taylor franticaly texting me to go to your website. For some reason I can't open it (even though I'm married to an IT genius--oh, you were right by the way. 1st marriage to the rich guy didn't work out. Turns out he's kind of a jerk. Now I'm married to Garett Christopher. Remember him at all?). Anyway, looked over your blog. Your son is adorable! Glad you're heading back to the Y where you belong. If you make time for James, maybe you can squeeze us into the meeting too.

There are some voices from the past.

James...do you still have my Jim Rome CD? I know it has been about 8 years so the statute of limitations has probably expired. Thanks for the comment.

Maquel: good to hear from you. Unfortunately, I do not remember Garrett. Where do I know him from?

Just so everyone knows: "www.randblair.com" is offically off line. It was a shame if you missed it, because the site was a modern marvel of multimedia. I have only updated it two or three times in the last year and I don't see my amount of leisure time increasing in the near future. So...all news will continue on this blog.

I kid you not, as I was posting my comment I thought to myself "I hope he doesn't ask about his Jim Rome CD". I have bad news my friend, your Jim Rome CD has gone the way of the buffalo, I do however still have the CD case.

Garett Christohper went to Davis with us. He actually lived over by me. We just got married in March. He is the world's best step-dad to my 3 kids. Hey--I should have mentioned--I've got a redhead. My little girl, Kate. She's adorable of course. I say it serves you right for loaning anything to James. Do you seriously think that guy is trustworthy?

Rand, I've got a copy of that Rome cd if you are feeling a need to get back to your roots. I think your return to Provo would be a perfect time to listen to some classic takes that don't suck.

James: I publically forgive you. I feel better all ready.

That is a huge weight off my shoulders, I feel better too.

Now that randblair.com is offline, I've started drinking...heavily....

Cam:

What you are experiencing is referred to as the "detox process." The pain you are feeling is the randblair.com exiting your body. It will get worse before it gets better.

But it will get better.
